Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that strengthens teeth in two important ways:

Reverses early decay – Fluoride can help remineralize teeth and reverse the earliest stages of cavity formation before they become a problem

What to Expect During Treatment

Professional fluoride treatment is quick, painless, and simple:

We thoroughly clean your teeth
We apply fluoride as a foam, gel, or varnish—painted directly on the tooth surfaces or placed in a small tray that sits over your teeth for a few minutes
The fluoride absorbs into your enamel to strengthen and protect it

Depending on the type of fluoride used, we may ask you to avoid eating or drinking for about 30 minutes afterward. We'll give you clear instructions before you leave.

Who Benefits from Fluoride Treatment

While fluoride treatment is especially important for children—protecting both baby teeth and permanent teeth as they come in—it's also recommended for adults who have a higher risk of developing cavities due to dry mouth, gum recession, frequent cavities, or other factors.
